How dangerous is
technology for
young people?
Everyday English
[6 minutes]
What are experts now discovering about the relationship between young people and tech?
This is an absorbing topic, for sure. With the lighting fast developments of technology, how does it, has it been, and will it affect young people?
The BBC recorded this podcast discussing if technology is dangerous for young people.
From my experience, as a young person that has grown up with technology, I think it will become harder for parents to protect children from certain aspects of technology.
The reason I think this is because children are normally ahead of their parents with the “latest and newest technologies”.
A quick story?
I worked with a student once in Austria. His mother felt that his consistent communication with his friends on WhatsApp was a distraction from his school work.
Therefore, she took his phone away when he arrived home from school and didn’t give it back until 17:00, but only for an hour or so. However, what she didn’t know, is that he was sending and receiving messages from his smartwatch which was connected to his smartphone.
This is my point. He was ahead of the game.
And a little genius…😉
